Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is DONDO The Talking Drum?

DONDO is a private business that consists of like-minded individuals from different backgrounds working to make the world a better place. We provide a turn-key online incident reporting solution to businesses, schools, creches, and retirement villages. Dondo is not a government agency or department and has no association with the government at all. For more information please read our Mission and Vision.

2. What services does DONDO provide?

Whistleblowing Management

Our whistleblowing incident reporting solution and world-class information storage network allow us to link even the smallest pieces of information to cases. We can utilise partial registration numbers, nicknames, products and more to help track and solve incidents. Our team has more than 100 years’ investigation and intelligence gathering experience combined, which allows us to quickly and effectively handle incident reports.

Customer Complaints

Consumers complain for a variety of reasons, ranging from legitimate dissatisfaction to “settling scores” in their own agendas. We provide a platform for lodging customer complaints, getting them where they need to be and handling them professionally, privately and discreetly.

Customer Compliments

The DONDO platform also allows for compliments, which we celebrate on social media to the advantage of the subscribed business. Customer compliments are advertised at its best for our subscribers.

Protected Disclosures

DONDO experts handle all legally required duties of the subscriber regarding the Protected Disclosures Act.

3. What does DONDO provide to schools?

Bullying Reporting

Our system allows for victims of bullying, or the victims family, to report incidents. Our approach is always to find the root of the bully’s problems and have that addressed, rather than just expelling the bully, and moving the “problem” to another school. Our feedback system enables schools to address the problem and provide acceptable feedback before we close any report.

Whistleblowing

From years of experience, we understand illegal substance operations, gang recruitment and unethical behaviour. Even hardcore criminals are no match for our whistleblowing management system, and we know how to deal with them. We provide schools with tangible solutions that they can execute themselves, or we offer outsourced solution services through our service providers.

Maintenance Issues Reporting

Our system allows any registered user to file a maintenance issue, which is then communicated to the school’s janitor or maintenance staff. Photos can be uploaded to make explaining the problem less of a burden. Reported issues are only closed once feedback has been provided, and we regularly forward outstanding issues to the school.

Bragging Service

Schools can communicate achievements to us, which we place on our site and on social media.

Protected Disclosures

DONDO experts handle all legally required duties of the subscriber regarding the Protected Disclosures Act.

Responsibility

  • Honour commitments towards clients, staff, service providers and others.
  • Embrace and adhere to labour legislation.
  • Adhere to the Protected Disclosures Act.

8. Why would I want to pay to provide a platform for people to complain about me?

People are going to complain, whether you’re a subscriber or not. A subscription allows you to channel the complaints to professionals who will handle the complaint professionally and arrive at a solution. Complaints can be used to identify any potential operational flaws, and we can use this information to provide recommendations on how to improve.

9. Can people still complain on social media about me if I am subscribed?

Although people are free to complain on any platform, you can simply respond to the complaint by professionally and politely informing the customer that their complaint will be handled by us. We will take over and professionally handle the issue, arriving at an acceptable solution for both parties.

10. Can my listing and certification be terminated?

We aim to address operation flaws and help companies provide better service. Any business that does not abide by the DONDO standards will be excluded from the DONDO family and have their certification terminated.

11. Why is using a DONDO certified business the safer option?

To get listed and certified on our platform, the business needs to sign and abide by the DONDO principles. Failure to adhere to the principles on an ongoing basis will result in the subscriber’s listing eventually being terminated. As part of the certification process, the business must provide proof of:

  • Physical address
  • Registration
  • Registration with relevant governing bodies or legislatures
  • UIF and other registrations
  • Employment contracts
  • Implementation of a protected disclosures policy

All these factors ensure that DONDO certified businesses are safe to use and abide by stringent ethical standards.

12. Does DONDO recommend any business?

No, we don’t provide recommendations. We provide a list of safe businesses that are DONDO certified.

13. Would DONDO protect a business?

DONDO can help resolve issues and protect businesses against unfair complaints and victimization. If a business acted wrong, we identify the flaws and provide growth solutions. We will never compromise our vision for a better business environment.

14. How do I know if a business is DONDO Certified?

The business will display DONDO signage. You can also verify the business on our site.

  • The subscriber is informed of the complaint.
  • A process of mediated information exchange will follow. This is ongoing for as long as the complaint remains unresolved.
  • Once the complaint has been resolved, the complainant receives a detailed report of the findings as well as (if offered by the subscriber) a token of compensation. The complainant may be requested (based on the subscriber’s conditions) to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
